Hello, my name is Tim Gutsell, welcome to my web site where I have some of the photos on display from my visits into the countryside. I've always had a passion for nature starting from an early age when, with other boys from the Spring Lane Estate, near Canterbury, Kent, where I grew up, I would spend the seemingly endless days of spring and summer newting, fishing and finding birds nests. When old enough I joined the local angling club where I have been a life long member and spent many years in pursuit of specimen carp. I waited a long time to achieve my goal of catching a 30lb+ fish, which I eventually did it the age of 37 when at Fordwich Lakes I captured a superb Mirror Carp at 31.4oz!
Many days and nights were spent carp fishing and on the lake side I would while away the waiting hours watching the birds and animals that frequented the lake. As the years went by I found that I was spending more time with my binoculars, often at Stodmarsh and this lead to my fixation with bird photography. My first camera was a canon 400D which was coupled with a sigma 50/500 lens. I didn't have a clue how it all worked but with the help of other like-minded people started to get a few usable images. I've been enjoying the challenges with the camera for six years now and take every opportunity that I can to spend time out in the countryside.
My latest equipment is as follows.
Camera.........Canon 1DX MK2.
Camera.........Canon 7D MK2.
Lens..............Canon EF 500 F4 L IS II USM.

I welcome advice and critique. Please feel free to say hello in the guest book if you wish. Finally I must thank everyone who has guided me with the camera, both with how to use it and where to see the wonderful birds and animals that live in our beautiful countryside.
Tim Gutsell.
